Fleet? Network? What's the differance?

Most veteran players to Star Trek RPGs have probably noticed that many other RPG Organizations refer to themselves as "XYZ Fleet". But we don't here at the Star Trek PBEM Network.

Whether this is the case in other RPG Organizations or not; the term "Fleet" implies a certain strucutre - namely there is one person (or group of people) at the top who make all the decisions and that all of the RPGs are intertwined in some aspect (i.e. cannon events, "universe"-al standards, etc.). Here at STARTREKPBEM.NET, we feel that the buck stops at the Game Manager of each individual RPG.

Each RPG is goverened, managed, and controled entirely by its respective Game Manager (GM). The Executive group of STARTREKPBEM.NET cannot interfer with the game or alter the plotline. Further, each RPG is located within its own "universe". Events established in one RPG may or may not define the events within another RPG - some GMs do "cross over" plot lines with fellow RPGs, while some GMs take a more stand-off approach.

Note: This is not to infer that "Fleet-centric" organizations are a poor choice in design. It is simply not how the Star Trek PBEM Network is organized.
